In The Field!!

Family and Friends!                                                                                                               22 Jun 2015

Hello from Waukesha, Wisconsin! My companion is Sister Plante and this is her last transfer, and she and I have been assigned to re-open the Waukesha area for Sister missionaries. It is a lot of hunting down less actives and former investigators, and most of the time they are not home when we knock on their doors, but we keep trying! We have been doing a ton of tracting, too. On my first day out, one of the sisters told me that "this is a tracting mission." She said the baptizing rate in Wisconsin is the same as the baptizing rate in Romania! Crazy, right? But there are definitely still people who have been prepared by God to receive the gospel. That's why we tract so much... so we can find them!!!

So we live in an apartment in Pewaukee. For all my Parks and Rec fans out there, Pewaukee is JUST LIKE Pawnee, Indiana! There are major raccoon problems and a lot of ghetto areas. It's funny because I always pictured Wisconsin as this beautiful farming community, and parts of it really are like that, but where I am right now (pretty close to Milwaukee) there are a lot of run-down areas and weird people. But I love weird people so it works!

Speaking of rodent problems, there is most likely a small animal living with us in our apartment. We know this because there is a trap door on our shower ceiling that was open when we got here, and a bunch of twigs and animal droppings fell out. So there's probably a little chipmunk that hides in our cupboards and in the hole in our bathroom wall! At least that's what the exterminator said! Haha. I'm sending a picture, it's pretty funny.

Also, here are some pictures of my district from the MTC and my MTC companions! I'm bad at taking pictures but I at least got a couple.

Anyways, this past week has been a major adjustment but I have already learned a lot. In the MTC I decided my mission scripture would be Isaiah 55:12: I can't quote it exactly but it says something like "For ye shall go forth with joy, and the mountains shall clap their hands." Yeah maybe you should just look it up!

Well love you all! Thanks for the love!

MTC!!

Well, first p-day at the MTC! It's Thursday, my eighth day here, and I only have five days left! Maybe even four, depending on how you count a day... We leave for Wisconsin next Tuesday (the 16th) at 2:30 in the morning!
I love it here, I really do! The first few days were rough at times, but after Sunday I felt like a switch flipped in my brain and I just started to love it. The truest words ever spoken to pre-missionaries are JUST MAKE IT TO SUNDAY! Because after Sunday time just started to fly!

My companions are great! I'm in a trio with Sister Hunt and Sister Osburn. They are both lovely and I feel so lucky. Our district is incredible, too; I feel like all the little Elders (most of them just graduated from high school) are my brothers! Four of them are going to Wisconsin with my trio, and the other two are going to Texas Houston South with two other sisters in our district. There are 11 of us total. It has been a lot of fun to see how relationships grow when you're all stressed out and lonely together! Haha.

As far as learning goes, I feel like I make lots of mental breakthroughs every day! I am so lucky to be teaching in English! I thank Heavenly Father for it all the time! I have a lot to work on with my teaching, but I like how we get to practice on "investigators" here and I really feel like I have grown. The spirit at the MTC is so strong and I have prayed harder here than I've ever prayed before! I've also studied the scriptures harder and I can already feel a difference in my relationship with Heavenly Father and my confidence in sharing the gospel.

This morning we got to go to the temple and do an endowment session, which makes today the BEST DAY EVER!!!! I loved getting a chance to sit in the celestial room and pray and just feel peace about what I'm doing. I love wearing my little black name tag; I love being a missionary!

Thank you all for your DearElders and your love and prayers! I always knew missionaries loved mail; I never quite understood how much! Mail time is the best time of the day, always! So thank you to those who wrote me!
My next p-day isn't til the 22nd of June I think, in Wisconsin! So it will be a while!

To mom, could you please forward this to all the people it needs to go to? I definitely don't have a list of people's emails haha. Love you all!
